Behind the Canvas #1 - A Look Behind the Scenes in My Studio

Welcome to the very first post in my new Behind the Canvas series!

I’m so excited to share a closer look at my creative world with you. Here on my blog you’ll find updates about new artworks, inspiration from my studio, and a peek into ongoing projects.

In this first edition, I’ll take you along for a short recap of the ArtiBosch art market, show you what’s currently on my easel, and introduce a brand-new DIY collage kit.

Earlier this month I had the chance to take part in ArtiBosch, the annual art market in the heart of ’s-Hertogenbosch. It was such a wonderful experience! I loved showing my work in the open air, meeting new people, and having so many inspiring conversations throughout the day.

Events like these are always special — they bring together artists, collectors, and curious visitors, and create a lively atmosphere full of creativity.

On My Easel 🎨

Back in June I had the chance to take part in a charity auction in support of Alpe d’HuZes. The winning bid gave someone the opportunity to have their beloved cat painted by me — such a special project!

Let me introduce you to “Dikkie” 🐾. I’m painting him in a Renaissance style, using techniques once employed by the Dutch masters like Vermeer and Rembrandt. The first underpainting is already on the canvas, and I can’t wait to keep building up the layers.

For the owner this portrait will remain a surprise, but here I can share a little sneak peek. Curious to see how it develops? In my next Behind the Canvas update I’ll reveal more progress! Want to follow the progress? Join my Behind the Canvas Newsletter 👇

✂️ DIY Fall in Love

New: DIY Collage Kit “Fall in Love” 🍂

Maybe you’ve already spotted them at the market: my DIY collage kits! Since I work a lot with collage, I often end up with beautiful leftover papers. Instead of letting them go to waste, I carefully combine them into unique little sets — so you can start creating your own collages at home.

Each kit includes:

  • 6 collage papers, carefully matched in color and texture

  • a sturdy 10x15 cm backing paper (perfect to frame or send as a card)

  • small embellishments to finish your artwork

  • a step-by-step guide to help you along the way

The Fall kit is inspired by warm autumn colors and natural textures. Every kit is one-of-a-kind, and I only make them in small batches.

They’re a lovely gift 🎁 — or just a creative treat for yourself!

✨ To celebrate this very first Behind the Canvas post, I want to thank you for reading. Use code FALL10 in my Etsy shop and enjoy 10% off all DIY kits. The code is valid until 31 October.

Thank you so much for reading this very first Behind the Canvas post 💌. I hope it gave you a little inspiration and a peek into my creative world — from the lively ArtiBosch art market to what’s currently on my easel, and of course the brand-new Fall DIY kit.
